Equipment and Its Role in Exercise

Exersize equipment is not nearly as necessary as many people think. Even though they do not want to believe it, exersize is primarily dependant on how hard you are willing to work and how seriously you commit to it. A person who refuses to put energy into a workout and who only works out sporadically a day or two every week has little hope of ever making any fitness progress even if he does have the newest, most technologically advanced and most expensive pieces of exersize equipment. On the other hand, someone who commits to a daily exersize routine and who really works at becoming physically fit is likely to see substantial results in a few weeks, even if he has no exersize equipment at all.

Truth about Exersize Equipment

If you do persist in the idea of purchasing your own piece of exersize equipment, you will probably have the best results if you create a workout routine that incorporates at least two different activities. This will enable you to alternate your exersize, which will not only give your muscles and body a better and more complete workout but also prevent you from getting bored with the monotony of doing the same thing every day. If you create a plan that includes two different forms of exersize, such as using an elliptical trainer and playing tennis with a buddy, you are also more likely to get the greatest use and benefit out of your exersize equipment purchase.

For example, treadmills are the most common piece of exersize equipment owned by Americans. However, if you think about it, you can probably name at least two people who own treadmills but use them for nothing more than a glorified clothing rack. These people probably purchased their treadmills with grandiose notions of exersizing diligently on them every day but soon found themselves bored and unmotivated. On the other hand, serious runners are another group of people who also tend to own many treadmills. These people actually use them, though. The difference is that many runners do not rely exclusively on their treadmills as their sole exersize option. They meet with friends for group runs, go out jogging around their neighborhoods or local parks, or enjoy solitary trail runs. Treadmills are used on those days when the weather is bad, when their schedules are especially tight and time is limited, and when other obligations prevent their usual running routine. Treadmills are a supplement to the exersize routine, not the sole component.

If you want to make the most of your exersize habits and any exersize equipment you may own or buy, be realistic in your plans. Think of what you enjoy doing and choose a piece of exersize equipment that works into your lifestyle, personality, and habits. Instead of trying to conform to the equipment you buy, make your equipment conform to meet your needs.
